Top Tips for my Baked Homemade French Fries
- Use large potatoes such as Maris Piper’s so that you end up with authentic long french fries.
- Soak the chopped fries in ice cold water a minimum of 30 minutes, this removes all the starch from the potatoes so that you end up with super crisp french fries
- Make sure you dry them thoroughly with a tea towel after soaking! If there is any residual moisture then your fries will end up being soft when you put them in the oven.
- Lay your potatoes out evenly on your oven tray lined with parchment paper in a single layer. If you stack them on top of one another then you’ll send up with soft fries which we do not want!
- Lastly, enjoy with tons of ketchup because these baked homemade french fries are technically healthy!

Simply wash your potatoes, keep the skin on! Then cut the thoroughly rinsed potatoes lengthways. Stack each slice on top of another with the cut side facing down and slice into a quarter inch thick french fries!
