Ingredients for Cheese and Potato Puff Pastries
Inside these gorgeous cheese and potato puff pastries is a beautifully spice potato mixture, topped with mozzarella cheese just before they’re closed.
- 4 potatoes
- 2 medium sized red onions
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 red chilli
- 3 tablespoons rapeseed oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 2 ready rolled puff pastry sheets
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons black sesame seeds
Method
- Begin by peeling and then boiling 4 medium sized potatoes until soft. This will take about 7-8 minutes! Drain the potatoes and then mash them and set aside.
- Chop your onions, garlic and chilli finely and then fry off in your rapeseed oil on a medium low heat for 3 minutes.
- Add in all your spices and stir well, cook these off for a further 2 minutes and then add in your potatoes and mix to combine.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Cut 2 ready rolled puff pastry sheets into equal rectangles. Place 2 teaspoons of the potato mixture onto half of the rectangles. Add 2 teaspoons of mozzarella cheese. Use the remaining puff pastry as lids for your parcels. Crimp the sides of your parcels with a fork.
- Whisk the egg with the the milk and brush onto the parcels, so that they turn golden in the oven.
- Sprinkle your parcels with some white and black sesame seeds and then put the parcels into the oven to bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
