Pizza toast Recipe takes me right back to my childhood every time I eat it and so I decided to recreate it this weekend. Golden, crisp and beautifully cheesy.
For my Pizza Toast., all you need are 4 ingredients: bread of your choosing, passata sauce, fresh basil and buffalo mozzarella. And of course salt and pepper! Bread-wise I used a white crusty bread but you could go for a sourdough or just a regular loaf. The key to this recipe is using fresh basil leaves for a beautifully fragrant Margherita style Pizza Toast recipe.
I wanted to make this recipe as fool proof and straightforward as possible, but on days I’m feeling fancy I’ll cook the passata beforehand with garlic and red chilli.
The cheese I opted to use was a super creamy buffalo mozzarella, however since making this pizza toast I’ve remade it with a mix of cheese (parmesan, cheddar and buffalo!) so you could totally do that too. The more cheese the better!

Pizza Toast
Ingredients
- 1 slice of white crusty bread
- 3 tbsp passata
- 3-4 fresh basil leaves
- ½ ball of buffalo mozzarella
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Spread your passata on your toast.
- Tear the basil leaves and place on top of the passata.
- Top with the buffalo mozzarella and place under the grill until golden brown!
