Ingredients for Raspberry and Clotted Cream French Toast
- For the French Toast:
- 4 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
- 2 large eggs
- 50 ml whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter (for frying)
- For the Topping:
- Fresh raspberries (you can use frozen if fresh are not available)
- Honey to taste
- 2 spoonfuls of clotted cream
- 1 tablespoon icing sugar (optional) for decoration
Instructions:
- Begin by slicing the bread
- Using a bread knife cut your bread into thick slices. Brioche bread is best however thick white bread would work too.
- Prepare the French Toast Batter:
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Cook the French Toast:
- Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated but not soaked.
- Place the coated bread slices onto the skillet and cook until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Assemble the French Toast:
- Transfer the cooked French toast slices to serving plates.
- Dust with some icing sugar, drizzle on as much or a slittle honey as you like, scatter on your washed raspberries and top with a dollop of clotted cream.
